38, Some financing tips
Posted by mnhall1, Wed Oct-18-06 08:13 AM
Hi. I own a tax service-in business for about two years now. I am a t work at home mom, was trying to move to a storefront. I know I may not be an expert, but I have been searching the internet for about a year (no kidding!) trying to find some 'creative financing'. Like grants, free money, investors.

Anyway, I didn't find any. The government doesn't give free money, and investors pretty much want you to be established. I didn't find out that my city and state have EXCELLENT small business programs. I went through their program (short period-10 weeks, one night a week) and became eligible for loans up to $35,000.

I also found a small business credit card with easy approval through Chase: http://cardqueen.ecreditdirectory.com/issuers/chase.
Long page name, but worth it. I guess Chase is on some big small business financing kick so you may want to try for a loan through them as well. I couldn't qualify (credit not good enough) but I did get the card and they gave me $6000! I was shocked to say the least.

BUT you must have a employee tax id number! This is how they know you are a real business owner. I did taxes out of home for a couple of years and didn't know that I need that. But it wasn't hard to get and it was free. You will also need a tax id number if you decide to go through your city and state services.

Well, that's all I have. I am as of right now at this very moment on the internet still trying to find some financing. Tax season is coming and mama needs a new desk!;-)

If i find anything, I'll let you guys now. Idea cafe has been good to me!
