Grants are available in certain industries, such as healthcare. The Federal government has also started running many design competitions, with some very good prizes. While you may not necessarily be able to submit a response, this will give you an idea of where the government is currently focusing and investing money - http://challenge.gov.

If you are interested in getting a business loan look no further than the Small Business Assoc. They have loans available but only for people/business that are qualified - that's why you should look into it to see if you are eligible.
If it's grants that you are looking for then that will require a bit more research work. But there are grant programs that are out there and available - you just have to do some research to find them.

You will find direct quotes from grants.gov and SBA.gov about grants. You will find a direct quote from the CEO of SCORE saying he has never met a person that has gotten a grant.
That same article will also direct you to other options.
