The following message was posted by Laurie Metcalf on 8/2/2006:

"To Anyone in the Bridal Business:
I am in the start up phase of opening a bridal boutique and need as much information, resources, etc... on inventory, how much lease space, right location, finding reps and inventory lines, start up funding, just to name a few.

I am really looking for a "mentor" that is in the business and wouldn't mind helping me out. I have looked for a mentor locally, but no one wants to share. Please Help Me.....

Anxiously awaiting help from anyone!
Thank you,
Laurie"

Our daughter recently got married and planned her entire wedding. She is an event planner for a non-profit agency. You may contact some agencies in your local area to see if they could give you some information. They have lots of contacts.

Hi, Laurie -

Complementary businesses such as wedding planners, florists, photographers, etc. might be able to give you some leads.

Look for bridal boutiques online. Chances are, most or all will be hundreds of miles away. Then, you could email a few regarding any resources they might share. That could be a start to establishing a mentoring relationship.

You might also be able to locate an email discussion group for people with bridal shops. Try going to Yahoo groups, and search just as you would for websites.
