943, How best to market an eBook/Business Package?
Posted by RedHat39, Wed Mar-21-07 04:24 PM
I need some advice on how to market a new project. For some background info I own a DVD and Video Game store in my hometown. The business model I operate under is unique and a fresh twist on video stores.

Lately I've had lots of interest from customers asking where I got my idea from to start such a unique business. So I've decided to write up an eBook and include it in a package that will allow anyone purchasing it to capitalize on my idea.

The question I have is if anyone here has used ClickBank and if so how does it work? I mean I know the basics of how a purchase is made and all of that because I've bought several items from ClickBank over the years. I have never tried to sell anything there. Is it a good venue? Are there better ways to market my business plan/package?

TIA for all replies.

At least one alternative that I like the look of is PayLoadz. I won't regurgitate the details here, but I like the look / feel of it better than click bank.

I must say that I have no experience with either though.

As far as how to market it...

I'd suggest taking a look at some of the aff marketing blogs such as

http://www.aojon.com/

to see what you can get from them. I only browsed the above one and it seems to be an active and worthwhile site... but I didn't go deep into what they have to say.

Keep with developing the writing skills on your blog and don't worry about sharing the basic principal behind the business... it's usually not the idea that people need, it's the nuts and bolts about how to implement... which would be in the ebook.

Sounds to me like you may limiting yourself by selling your idea through an ebook. If your business concept is truly unique you may be able to branch out by eventually franchising.

Setting up to offer franchises is difficult, costly and time consuming. The federal and state regulations are gruelling. But it may be worth it.

If you don't want to go through all that, you could also offer your business model as a "business opportunity". Others would buy your system (your business model) without the need for a franchise license.

Either of those scenarios would certainly offer you much greater potential than selling your idea through an ebook. There are always many, many people looking for new business ideas to buy into.

You make some very sound suggestions and actually I've been told by one of my advertising venues that I should consider franchising my business model. But like you mentioned it is such a costly and time consuming ordeal and right now I just can't devote either the time or money to it.

Actually what I was going to market, should I decide do it, is not just an ebook, but rather a whole series of ebooks and video instructions for the business practices and initial startup. Also a listing of the movie and video game suppliers that are worth the effort to deal with as well as pertinent contracts for an additional stream of revenue that has sprang up since I've opened my store.

I have had time to check into ClickBank now and I don't think this is the venue I want to use for such a package because for two reasons:

One, they limit the sales price of item to less than $200. Theres no way I want to sell out my idea for $200 initially. I've got 6 years of work and research invested in this business and for the past year have proven it will work in my own retail location.

Two, the kinds of products sold for the most part on ClickBank in the area I would list this seem to be the "get-rich-quick" schemes which this is definately not. This is a real business that you actually have to work at and invest in.

Anyway thanks again for your input. I do appreciate your taking the time to respond with some sound advice.

Have a great day and God Bless!
