You can start your own search to see if there is anything similar already out there. Just because your idea may not be on store shelves doesn't mean there isn't already a patent issued. Using a search attorney is costly. Conducting your own search is tedious and time consuming, but you can do it yourself (at least the preliminary search). I went to the library and got a few different books that offered sample plans and suggestions on how to build a business plan. You can also go to planware.org and download a free business plan template.
