Where I live Magic the Gathering is becoming a little less of a hide in your parents basement to pay sort of game. People that otherwise don't fit the stereotype of this are starting to play, or are interested in learning however the only shop we have around here that does much with it, is very much for the basement nerds. Basically our idea is to open a shop big enough to house tournaments, have more of a mainstream feel to it, and to even offer lessons on how to play.

There is 3 technically 4 but I count my SO and I as one, involved in this idea. First we aren't sure how feasible it is for so many to go into this together. Then we need to decide to rent or buy a property. And the 3rd big thing is what would our secondary focus to sell be. You can't just sell Magic or else we will not attract our primary focus of getting people in the door, seeing some games going and peak an interest in people that would otherwise have no idea what the game is or even how to play it.

My Significant other is working on becoming a sanctioned judge, the nearest magic shop to us which is the next town over doesn't have one, the nearest town to have an actual judge which is needed for DCI sanctioned tournaments is well over 50miles away. Then the next one is closer to 100miles. We live in a decent sized town, and real estate is relatively cheaper here. A lot of low income families so we would like to go a little cheaper with prices to make the game itself more affordable as well as offer a safe haven for the youth that would otherwise go home to an empty house or an abusive house even.

Hi,

It's a great business idea and speaking business wise, I guess you have got yourself a great and I can safely say a perfect market. Negligible competition and a god customer base too. However, I think what you need to focus now is how you can attract them. Maybe you could a d a few more activities in your business model.
