Every state will be different... but the basics for Texas are...
1. Agents need to be licensed
2. You get licensed by going to classes and taking the test(s)
3. You can't take the test unless you are sponsored by a broker
Try searching for "your state real estate commission or agency" and see if you can find the governing body.
