394, Online Stationery?
Posted by Smoodge, Tue Nov-14-06 12:50 AM
Hey all,

For ages I have had the idea of selling stationery online for people who have no time (or inclination) to go to the supermarket or newsagent to buy their kids' school supplies for the new school year.

I have thought of using eBay because a: a lot of people go straight to eBay when they want to buy something and b: I looked on eBay and there is no run-of-the-mill stationery being sold on it.
For instance, if you want a Bratz exercise book, you can get it, but no basic stationery items, unless you buy 100 of them at the same time.

My question is to those of you who are parents, or have school-age kids...
Would you use this kind of service?
How would I let you know that my business exists?

As well, I have noticed that bookshops and newsagents who DO fill booklist orders charge a LOT for posting out booklist orders, and there is doesn't seem to be an option for parents to combine two or more booklists to save on postage and handling. I am able to be flexible in estimating the postage costs.

My advantages are that I can shop around and find stationery that is on sale, and that I can be more flexible in the cost of postage.
My disadvantages are that I have no idea of how to proceed!

As you can see by my eBay store (below) I am testing the waters to see if I get any bites.

I would be really grateful for any feedback you can give me.
