3831, New Idea
Posted by cah0826, Tue Jul-14-09 07:37 AM
Hello!!

New to the site and wanted to run a few ideas past everyone to
see what they thought!!

My "idea" has been an idea for a long time. I have
always been in the hospitality industry, and wanted to own my
own catering company. I am a huge fan of paula deane from the
food network and how she got her start by hard work and
determination. How she involved her family as well. and how on
foot she built an empire!!

I started really researching owning my own business, what
other businesses were doing that were succeeding as well as
failing. I researched my would be competition, and broke down
the field for myself.

I found this..In columbus ohio there are MANY restaurants as
in many cities. There is also many catering companies...large
and small. But one thing there is not many of(and if there are
I could not find them)are delivered homemade lunches to your
work place. There are 2 companies that delivery restaurant
meals to some offices, but nothing for the average desk
gal/guy that would like a fresh made sandwhich or soup...

So what do you think? Would you order, with busy schedules and
gas prices these days, a hand made lunch?

I figure in delivering to offices they would also keep me in
mind for office parties or events outside work and more
personal occasions.
Easy start up...
feedback??

Hi Christy:

I think that's a great idea. But, don't restaurants hand make their food too? So, I'm not sure what's different based on your discription. Are you saying they don't deliver sandwiches or soups? Also, when you say homemade, I hope you mean tastes like homemade and not actually made in your home. If so, you may want to check with your local board of health. Most cities do not allow food products that are to be sold to the public to be made at home unless you've gone through a home inspection.

Overall, I do think it's a great idea. I think people would buy. Your biggest hurdle would be advertising. What are you planning on doing?

Best of luck! :)
