DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?

I'm close to launching my eBay alternative website called Fimote.
I'm sick of eBay and their fees, which is why I'm creating an auction website, made by consumers for consumers! I will always let users list their items for free, and you only have to pay a small final value when your item sells. If your item doesn't sell you pay nothing, and guess what you can re list it again free. eBay doesn't think about the users, I'm going to at least try and make something work that benefits everyone! The website is in the process of being created! www.fimote.com

* Registration is FREE and no monthly fees
* List your items for FREE
* You can accept Trade offers from users
* You get paid to invite friends
* If your item does sell final value fees are half that of eBay!

Website should be up by the end of June 2009.
Be sure to save it to your favorites!

You can also download our toolbar @ www.fimote.ourtoolbar.com

DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?

Have a great day,

Fimote

Sounds great, if you have the marketing funds needed to support it.

I plan on starting out with Google Adwords $50, and inviting my friends and family to join. The main reason why I created a referral program is so I won't have to spend as much time advertising. I know it will be rough to get the website going, but I figure in a year or so it should spread across the world. Looks like it might be a later launch then expected but it's better then to launch the site early and have a lot of errors.

You may want to consider the Local Ad Link advertising solution. We are dedicated to helping local business increase their online exposure. How do we do it?

First, we place your business in an online business directory which is LocalAdLink.com, our owned and operated geo-targeted high traffic local business directory. Second, we then push each advertiser out to our Local Ad Link advertising network consisting of thousands of domains and growing each day. Third, we utilize Third Party networks to add even more exposure to our advertisers. These Third party websites consist of sites like Ask.com, Google, directories, and other high traffic websites. Some of the other benefits of our product is that we allow advertisers to update and customize their own ad the way they want it, customers can search for the name or type of business, read & write reviews about your business/services, view photos, and much more. More importantly, advertisers are also able to track the performance of their ad by viewing online reports making this one of the most transparent advertising opportunities available in the marketplace today.

Greetings,
This sounds wonderful, just make sure that you charge enough to cover all expenses and put a little jingel in your pocket.
This will probably be a good idea in this economy, often through the economic down turns of history small ideas have grown into Big situations.
Do you have a banner or something I can place on my brick and mortars web site? www.fishingatcountrycovevillage.com

God Bless and may foryune follow you and all new entreprenuers(sp),

My one and only thought is to be ultra careful that you do not tread on any of Ebay's copyrights or trademarks.

IOW, how do you plan on accepting payments. I wonder if paypal is going to take kindly to doing the payment clearing for someone who wants to compete with their parent company.

Competition is healthy for the economy, but does the payment arm of the competition want to let you compete with them?

Not to disappoint you, but you will hardly ever succeed. There is a reason why eBay has started charging so many fees, they're not as profitable as they used to be. What do you think it costs to run an infrastructure like eBay's? That's where a lot of the fees goes. Look at Craigslist, much simpler and much cheaper to run. Once you get into eBay territory, your costs are going to be huge, so you will start charging fees like they do as well :-)
Just lowering costs is not really a good way to start a business unless you bring in something else. You should rather find a niche and create an auction site for that niche with the tools they require.

my .02 cents
