3363, bakery business

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for some ideas on baking from home. I have the permits and my kitchen has been inspected. I bake pies, breads, and rum cakes for farm stands in the summer. I live in Maine and am in a tourist area, but in September the tourist are gone and business stops. The locals will not pay the price for the baked goods, because they also do not have any business. There have been bakeries that have opened, but always end up closing down.
I was thinking of selling some slices of cake to convenient stores?
or starting a website to sell Maine baked goodies. I can not sell to restaurants because alot of them close for the winter, or are not busy enough to buy anything.
Then what about the shipping, how do you ship a cooked pie? or bread, a bundt cake? I will have to look into that and add it into the pricing.
Do you think a website for this is a good idea?

Thanks,
Trina

Have you tried selling to individuals who live in the area? Rather than only targeting businesses, try to target residential customers as well.
