2942, In A Slump After 15 Years...Ideas Needed
Posted by Out On A Whim, Mon Sep-01-08 12:57 PM
After 15 years in business I lost one of my profitable product lines due to a new State law (no adult merchandise allowed). I sell all types of merchandise from costumes, rock T's, fashion apparel, metaphysical, partyware and my store is a castle 14,000sqft. I sell online also. I need some business ideas that my zoning will allow, which means something with retail tied in to add to an empty 4,000sqft area.
I want nothing Wal-mart has. It has to be different and fun.
It may be a new line of merchandise... It may be a service... It may be a themed cafe... it may be antiques or retro furniture or a product line or function for kids. I don't know I am getting too old and the ideas aren't popping in my head like they used to. Anybody got any Fun type ideas for me????:+

I was in financial services for 17 years before selling my business to join my husband in this hot sauce venture of his.

I don't know if there are any "hot sauce shops" near you, but they are quite the novelty and with products like ours (Peppermaster) you can generate quality repeat business. If you're interested in exploring this idea, I can send you our wholesale pricing, and help you figure out how to go about doing something like what we are doing.

So far it's been very profitable and well... You asked for FUN? This is it in a nutshell.

There aren't any now. There was at one time.I had considered hot sauces and specialty foods but then one of our grocery chains beat me to the punch right before I was ready to purchase the products. If I were to go with hot sauce I would add it to my existing product lines and go for novelty label hot sauce as I have some already Like "Still Hot at 40" in my OTH section. I would be interested in your pricing I took a look at your site. I just know I couldn't make up the profit from my lost line on filling 4,000sqft with it. But your right it is fun!

That sucks....A themed cafe would be a very cool idea. Shop and snack but give it an edge of some sort to seperate it from other in store cafes.

How about these:

A castle themed cafe, with servers dressed like knights and other similar costumes

A laser tag area. These are popular in my area and very few places offer them. You could also use the castle theme along with the lasers.

A video game area.
