My wife works in the hair industry so I am trying to think of ideas where I can start a business/website targeting the same market.

My idea is yes another appointment system for the hair stylists where their clients can log online, view their hair stylists availability, schedule an appointment, get pricing, maybe pay online for their services, get a appointment reminder email and have booking abilities 24/7 (after hour).

The hair stylist would get an email/sms message notifying them they have a new appointment booked or be able to check it virtually from anywhere without having to call the salon.

If anyone has any other ideas regarding this industry, I would love to hear them.

I don't know much about the industry -- but, in your post, you said "yes another appointment system" - if there are so many appointment systems out there already, then this is too much competition. Also, if this is your idea, then I assume you're a programmer correct? If not, then this is probably not the idea for you.

Also, maybe the people to ask would be the hairstylists. Your wife works with them, maybe she should ask what they would like to see or what they would like to have access to online?

Just curious how far you went with your idea. I am not sure I would ventured into the software business, I assume you would be a reseller. I do have a few ideas, actually I think it could be a goldmine. The start-up could be as low as nothing or you could make an investment. I would rather not discuss this idea openly here.
