I think it is difficult to judge and there should be some serious market research to confirm or deny it. In my mind, I think of Golf as a luxury sport. Everything about it is expensive. Expensive shoes are par for the course (Please excuse very bad pun). I like playing golf, but don't like paying for it. That's why I like your idea.

Ice resistant slip-ons. Isn't this essentially what you are talking about with different packaging?
