1480, Ideas on how to have an item made
Posted by idothisforfun, Mon Jul-30-07 04:11 PM
I currently have an idea for a line of products that would be a hit, I have worked in this line of work since high school, I am curious on where I Could go to have a few made, They are made out of metal and are kitchen utensils, Any idea on where to go to get items made, Would I be best to try my local machine shop? or would I be best to find some manufacturer of some sort, I am in Ohio,
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

I would search around online for custom manufacturers. You can also check out the thomas registry.

searching on line is a great idea. I am from the uk but living
in eastern europe where manufacturing is very much cheaper. If
you are interested, i could check out prices for you, but you
would need to have a marketting idea as well. Contact me if
you like, i need some extra income!

Try your local career center or vocational school. I live in Ohio and have used these high school students for many projects. If you are lucky they will have a welding or precision machining program or pre-engineering. If you let me know what county you live in I can tell you the name of your local Joint Vocational School.

Usually the students will do the work for only the cost of the materials.
