146, 1 idea for someone - does it have merit?
Posted by atya, Sat Sep-09-06 11:10 AM
Hi All,
I've had an idea I don't have the time or inclination to pursue but it may have merit and it may be worthwhile for someone else:
Text or phone for directions. If anyone else is like me and they don't have a GPS 'whatever' then they constantly look at maps while trying to drive. When I'm lost why can't I phone someone or text someone who will advise me where I am and where I need to go to get to my destination. (The answer could be via text or to me on the phone in person while I'm being charged a set service fee then by the minute.)
What d'ya think folks?

Hmm. Interesting. I'm technically challenged so don't know if it's already being done (aside from gps systems). I know I once worked at a job where the drivers (cable installers) constantly called me at the office for directions. They had maps (usually) but sometimes just couldn't find the address. So I'd do a quick mapquest and get them to their destination. They weren't equipped with gps yet.

A little more research should tell you (or anyone else) if it's a viable idea.

I really like the idea, and it works! On Star already has this, but they have no monopoly on it. You could definitely create your own and market it.

This already exists. Google text is a great service, and its free. (and its google). I would look elsewhere:(
