1205, New Business Just Starting

Hi everyone!

I've recently started a business in which I offer personal assistance to small business owners. Kind of like a personal assistant to busy execs, you know, running errands, taking the car in for an oil change, waiting at the house for the cable guy. Except that I'm offering this service to businesses along the lines of shopping for office supplies, running business errands, helping prepare for trade shows, creating Access customer databases, etc. Basically anything that can help a business owner free up some of their time or get rid of some of their administrative burdens.

Although I've just started, I am having a hard time explaining just what it is I do. I'm also not sure I'm targeting the right areas that small business owners need help with. I'm looking for suggestions from other small business owners on particular tasks that they wish they could farm out to someone like me so that I can be targeting the services that will really matter. BTW I'm extremely proficient with all Microsoft software so if anyone can come up with some computer-related help I could offer, that would be great too.

I'd appreciate any and all assistance I can get!
Thanks

Hi,
Sounds like a great idea. How about booking for and supervising cleaning services. You could supervise for them and lock up when done? Just a thought.

Hi Michele,

I don't believe you are having difficulty explaining what it is that you do, at all. I believe you are hitting people who either don't need or don't want or can't afford your service. It's a question of finding your target market and hitting them.

I would certainly look into Virtual Assistants to see how they market themselves, and tweak it so that it suits the door to door service that you are offering.

I wish you were in my town. I could use someone to do such things for me.
