Book signings would be a great way to differentiate your business. At the same time you could get worlds of publicity. There are so many self-published authors particularly who would welcome the opportunity to publicize their books.

Other opportunities for you might be to have writing workshops and/or poetry readings.

Book discussion clubs are something else that could enhance your business. For instance, each week or each month, people could get together to discuss the latest best-seller.

Good luck! Keep us all posted as to how everything is going.

With a book signing, the author is on hand to sign the books in person. For them, it's much-needed publicity. In turn, they help generate interest in, and attract business to, your shop.

You asked about a low-budget service that would suit a book shop. Books are a very popular gift. You could have a free gift-wrapping service. Anything that makes it more convenient to buy is going to help increase sales. Make sure to promote your service and that includes having something in the window for busy passers-by who need to pick up a gift on their lunch hour.

Another service you could offer is a locator service for rare and out-of-print books. As long as you could do the research yourself, it would definitely be low budget since it would be basically a matter of your time.

Good luck with your business.

don't forget your walls ??? it's easy to sell art on consignment and art openings would bring in people to your new bookstore. I would stay away from food service as much as possible except for the obvious coffee and tea, possibly even using a self-contained cart for those that could be move to the curb during certain days or times of the year. best of luck

Yes i can see what u mean about the food , i do not really want to get too involved in the hassle of the food service. as for wall hangings, i am confused between the cool art (flyers & banners) about books and reading if u know what i mean or a real art paintings.

Thank you for your suggestions, now i'm in the process of deciding on the name of the book shop (any suggestions)
