I'm sure your intentions are good but your competition is pretty tough. There are lots of "social networks" with lots of people discussing this very thing. I would be sure that if this is what you want to do, find the sweet spot that nobody else has discovered (not an easy task) then jump in. I think it's a long hard row to hoe but hey, google wasn't built in a day.
