Hi everyone. My name is Becky and I need advice. I started Becky's Gift Baskets out of my home last year. Sales are slow coming. I have received good feedback from neighbors and friends and have a Real Estate company that buys for all their house sales. What should I do now to get my name into surrounding areas? I really want to succeed. Any advice would be get. Thanks

Hi Becky,

I have found that giving my product out has reaped big rewards. I've donated items for charity raffles, grand openings, etc. You get free advertising and a positive light is cast in your direction. If there are any events coming up where you can donate some items and get free advertising in exchange on their website that is always a good way to go.

And the products you are giving out for free would be tax deductable. It is a great way to get your name out there at little cost.

You may also want to check into joining your local Chamber of Commerce.
If you participate in some of the committees or activities, you'll find new ways of getting the word out. Consider donating a basket for an event or events....

One word of caution though. Don't think just joining will get you business. People deal with people they know, like and trust, so get active, get yourself seen as someone willing to help, get to know some of the other members. You'll be amazed what an organization like this can do for your local business.

What have you done for marketing so far Becky. I know that simple flyers sent out or posted on bulletin boards in your area is really good. Another inexpensive way is to put a little lettering on your vehicle, like the back window saying your company name, 1 line about what you do and a phone number. If you are looking to broaden you customer base using the internet there are a lot of ways you can do that too.
