Friends have suggested that we find corporate sponsors for our
Children's Fishing Tournaments which are held the second Saturday of each month from April to October.

The Lancaster, Ohio Super Wal Mart store has just decided to hold their huge Spring: "Children's Miracle Network Fund Raiser" at our park:
www.fishingatcountrycovevillage.com in a few weeks.

So, I guess corporations like to do this sort of opportunity.
But, how and what is the best way to approach Corporations for donations to give out to the children and in particular to the three(3) winners in each of the two age divisions?

I offer just a thought or two.

Securing corporate and business sponsors for what I assume is a non-profit venture is not as difficult as it may seem. Put yourself in those sponsors place which you are asking financial or in kind support from and answer these questions.

1. What is the "WOW" factor in this organization and this event? What is it purpose and mission and how does it make people say "wow that is a cool event and organization." More importantly what is the wow factor for the sponsor? What makes them say "wow we need to be involved in this project?"

2. Ask the age old question they will be asking you, "WIIFM or what?s in it for me?"

3. Always be willing to accept any level of sponsorship a few dollars, products etc... This initial relationship often springboards into more and greater sponsorship with the proof of a successful event and endeavor.
