What does your business do?
Salt therapy (halotherapy), massage, skin care, pranic healing, foot care.
When and why did you start the biz?
I was diagnosed with emphysema 4 years ago and started using salt therapy for myself. It worked so well in keeping me off steroids, inhalers and western medicine, that I retired from the post office to provide a healing center in my community.
How Many People are in your Company?
Myself only, with 4 other women with varying modalities rentingn space with me.
Where's your office?
A 1923 house with Dade county pine wood floors, salt lamps throughout, candles, low lighting, eastern/asian decor. Buddhas everywhere, magical energy. The salt room is all pink himalayan salt walls, coarse ground salt on the floor, 6 lounge chairs, tibetan bell fountain, very zen.
What's the toughest part of running your biz?
'The toughest part is reaching new clients, getting the word out.
What's the most fun part?
I love when skeptics come out of the salt room feeling better physically and mentally.
Anything you would have done differently?
I would have set aside more funds for digital advertising.
What's next on the horizon for your biz?
We have a separate children's therapy room with an unfinished bathrrom attached. That is my next project.
What advice do you have for others?
Do your research on your business and see if it is something your community is ready for. Most business take between 3-5 years to really take off.
How do you use Idea Cafe to help your biz?
I would like Idea Cafe to help with advertising, when people come in, they understand it and love it, but I am not reaching enough people.
