What does your business do?
Offer Select styles of clothing accessories and footwear
When and why did you start the biz?
I started my business in January of 2019. I started this business perusing a dream I had
been trying to accomplish for quite some time now, but for one reason or another,
including loosing my dad and then becoming a mom, i had always pushed this dream
aside. Now, with my two kids as my motivation, and giving that I have a passion for
fashion, I have decided to start this journey giving it my all, and working hard for it to be a success.
How Many People are in your Company?
Where's your office?
I turned a spare small room in my house into my office. I am also a cosmetologist, so I
use this same room for nail and hair services. I have a nice custom made(by my
husband) wooden desk that he made from left over material from his remodel jobs. I
gave it a rustic look with some stain and paint, and a beautiful fern that gives life to my
What's the toughest part of running your biz?
The toughest part of running my business is being blessed with so many people around
me willing to support me by purchasing my products, and me not having enough income
to add inventory to my boutique.
What's the most fun part?
Looking around for vendors and finding new items to add to my boutique. I have a huge
list of cute clothing and shoes to add. And just the whole idea in general of having and
running MY own boutique.
Anything you would have done differently?
I would have saved money before hand before jumping right in to launching my
business. Right off the back I already had to pay penalties for not filing my quarterly
taxes on time. I would have informed myself better as well, taken time to learn fully the
deadlines and consequences of not filing taxes.
What's next on the horizon for your biz?
What I see on the horizon for me and my business, is to open up a retail store! An
actual physical boutique at the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco Texas.
What advice do you have for others?
My advice to others is don’t hold yourself back. Pursue your dream, vision, goals,
whatever it is that you want to do, do it! There is never a “best” time to start, so just get to it and the most important thing, is to learn from your mistakes and make sure you do
not repeat them.
How do you use Idea Cafe to help your biz?
Will take all the tools and resources available at Idea Cafe, I will use and implement
them in my business. I will take the advice from everyone and be on the look out for
common mistakes to know what to stay away from and will also and most importantly,
be on the lookout for success stories from entrepreneurs like myself to remind me that I
can do it too.
School (where, still in school, degree)?
Little Elm HS, and state board Cosmetology License
Prior jobs or business?
Personal Banker, Hair Stylist, Makeup artist and nail tech.
All I LOVE food.
What are your pets' names?
Two horses, Tordillo & Bohemio, one puppy named Toby and a guinea pig named Panfilo.
Do any of these pets help with your biz?
They help me with my mental sanity while running my business. :)
But not my business directly.
Is there any one person or event in your life that led
you to go into business for yourself?
Person and event would be my two kids. I left my full time job as a Personal Banker to
be able to take my daughter to and from school, and to be involved in her education
more, being her first year in school. And to be around my 2 year old son more.
Anyone you publicly want to thank?
First and mainly, GOD🙏🏼 For giving me the strength and courage to finally say, I will do
it. Also I want to say THANK YOU to my husband Felix Oropeza, who has had to put up
with my whinny self when things wouldn’t run smoothly in the process of setting up my
website and what not, and also to ALL my FAMILY & FRIENDS for all their support.
