What does your business do?
We are a non-profit that helps young women increase their financial literacy education
and empower them to make confident and wise decisions with their money - no matter
the income they bring in.
When and why did you start the biz?
I've always had a passion for the non-profit sector. Importantly, after buying my first
home I realized how little I knew about the value of money before the purchase and the
undertaking I went through in order to self-educate myself. I want to ensure young girls
and women possessed a better understanding than me and could lead their financial
How Many People are in your Company?
Where's your office?
I have a home office and we also meet monthly at a non-profit arts incubator where we
reserve conference room space for our meetings.
What's the toughest part of running your biz?
With most non-profits, money is scarce. So the hardest part is finding start-up capital.
Right now, we are funding it through our own wallets.
What's the most fun part?
Seeing the impact we have on young girls and showing them positive role model
Anything you would have done differently?
I didn't realize how design savvy I was until I was left to build the organization website
by myself. Had I known that, I wouldn't have hired a designer to create my logo!
What's next on the horizon for your biz?
We are gearing up for our first annual scholarship gala - we plan to give out two
scholarships to young women getting ready to enter college.
What advice do you have for others?
Just do it. If you have a dream or goal in mind, get it done. Don't let anyone hold you
back or stop you.
