Want to Start a Business? First Start a Blog

Many people out there want to start a business. In fact, most people dream about having the perfect career in financial freedom that comes with starting their own business. But before you incorporate and set up your business bank accounts, you should consider starting a blog first.

Why a Blog First?

So, why should you start a blog first? First, a blog is easy to set up and you can create one totally free online. You can use a blogger platform such as Blogger.com or you can install the WordPress Content Management System on your website and start a blog that way. But for businesses that are in their infancy and do not yet have a website, starting a blog on a platform like Blogger can be extremely beneficial. For one thing, you are already starting to build an audience for your brand. For another, you are optimizing and getting indexed for keywords that you can then turn to your advantage once you do have products or services for sale. Finally, you were able to get feedback directly from readers to help you know how to begin your business. Here are a few other reasons.

Ready-Made Audience: if you have a blog audience that is already reading your posts and interested in what you have to say, then you have a ready-made audience when you decide to start a business, made from those who have become loyal readers.

Site Authority: you are also going to have more site authority when you have a blog. That’s because the more keyword phrases related to your main topic that you are ranked high for, the more keyword phrases you are going to be ranked high for. It is a self-perpetuating machine that allows you to continue to rise and that means an increase in traffic.

Mailing List: a blog also gives you a chance to build a mailing list. Mailing lists are great because they allow you to send out sales emails later on when you have a solid product. You can spend months coming up with your business design and products, while still building an audience by collecting email addresses.

Your Blog Options

There are a few options that you have when it comes to creating a blog. Some people go with an option like Blogger or one of the other platforms out there that allow free blog publishing. Other people tend to create a website by buying a domain and hosting and installing a platform like WordPress on to their site. Either is a good method for starting a blog.

How Often to Write Blog Posts

Another factor that you’ll want to consider when it comes to creating a blog is how often you should be posting. This differs depending upon how long your blog posts are, how in-depth the subject matter is and the amount of research required and of course, how much time you have; for most people, posting a blog once a week is a good schedule to maintain. Whatever you do, try to post regularly so that you get the boost from the search engines.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that if you are considering starting a business, then a blog is a really good first step. This is especially true if all you have is an idea for your business at this point. Building an audience and interacting with them regularly is going to help you down the road. A blog can be beneficial for many reasons, but it is basically a requirement if you’re starting a business.
