All over the world we are seeing a surge of technological advances. For a while the Silicon Valley was the place that sprang to mind as the tech hub of the world, but fast forward a few years and all of a sudden there are many cities vying for the crown.  2016 was a major turning point for Australia in the fintech sector as investment hit a record AUS$656 million. This actually tripled investments of 2015, as stated by ZDNet. This was in stark contrast to a global trend, where by, fintech investment dropped by a staggering 47%. A combination of acquisitions, mergers and venture capital investments were amongst the key determinants for growth.

2017, as predicted has been a great year for the Australian Tech scene. We have witnessed many new startups, developing at high speeds, many of the already established companies have recorded growth, and not to mention the big tech giants, who still continue to push boundaries.

Sydney is among the top tech hubs of Australia, and its core strengths are in Software, Financial Services, and Media. On the other hand, Melbourne is known for Biotech and Bio-medical research.
