Featured Biz Question

I started a home-based business about 6 months ago. I have found that the toughest part of my job is keeping myself motivated to get going each day and staying that way. I was wondering what do other home-based business people do to get themselves motivated and keep themselves up the whole day? I'm sure many of you long-time business owner have experienced these feelings. Any and all tips or methods is welcomed. Bob

Answer from our Guest Expert Lillyvette Montalvo

Welcome to the wonderful biz world of zero commute and working solo, Bob! It's like having your cake and eating too -- but it's not all smooth sailing, as you know! Home office-based businesses can be tricky sometimes. Especially when it comes to motivation. You're not alone here! Plenty of home-based biz people have a tough time leaving their cozy couch for the computer chair. Nevertheless, this doesn't mean you have to view your home office as a boring, uninspiring place!

Get A Groove Going!

First, start every day on a regular, positive note. And that means getting up early and at 'em. No walking into the office at 9 or 10 o'clock! Treat your home office hours as you would your former workplace hours. Be consistent and on time! Adopt a pleasant, regular routine that suits you. For example, when sipping your morning cup o' Joe -- feeling the warm liquid fill your body -- listen to your favorite morning show as you get ready for the office. In a nutshell, find your morning groove and stick with it. Stay positive too. Think about how great it is that you're not caught up in that giant parking lot on the freeway and you don't have dog-eat-dog coworkers waiting for you to make a wrong move.
