This Week's Featured Biz Question

After much frustration of my own finding good customer service, and after hearing so many other people complain, I'm considering starting a customer service company for local businesses in my community. I have a medical and sales background, but due to health problems cannot drive the distances and need to work from home. I have a complete home office already set up. My questions: How do I go about checking out the feasibility of this working and how do you charge for service-type businesses? Any insights and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Julie

Remember to set short-term goals for yourself. Try using a planner to determine when you want to get what done. Your questions were excellent in determining starting steps for your business, let's tackle some of those issues.

Get Your Business Specifics.

Pinpointing exactly what great customer services you'll be providing will help you get started. For example, you mentioned starting a customer service company for local businesses in your community. But answer these questions first.

  • Would you act as a consultant by training service employees on their jobs and professionally speak at seminars about good customer service?
  • Or would you charge for information and consulting advice online by creating your own website or using a video monitor?
