Featured Biz Question I just need a way to not mind rejection. Plus some ideas for answering objections and being able to turn a "no" around. DL
Answer from our Guest Expert Allison Gaea Jucha of Yes!Coaching Dear DL, I agree it's hard not to "mind" rejection because it is a very hard pill to swallow. Rejection has several facets, all of which tell us more about ourselves than it does about others. But rather than hearing it tell us the bad stuff, I think we can hear a lot of good. The Feeling of Rejection is Our Choice Although I have felt bad in job searches, failed relationships, even from turned down requests, it has been clear to me that feeling rejected would be my choice. It seems like we are very willing to give up control, put our lives into others' hands, and then feel bad when it doesn't work out the way we'd like it to. What if we practiced keeping control OF WHAT WE CAN, and accept that we cannot determine what other people do with us? That's a tough realization sometimes and we may vehemently disagree with their choices about us, but we can give up feeling badly about ourselves because of what they do. After all, if we didn't believe in ourselves so much, where would we have gotten the courage to go to the interview or open ourselves to the relationship in the first place? Page 1 - 2
