5 Alternative Business Industries That Are Going To Flourish In 2020
The world is changing and, like everything else, the types of new businesses are also changing as well. So what is new? What are we looking at? Well, one area that strongly features is any business that gives consumers an environmentally-friendly choice in the market, climate change and global warming are hot topics, pardon the pun, and although it’s true that these concerns have been in the public consciousness for decades the level of concern has significantly increased recently.
Ethical Clothing One area of concern that is really getting more people talking these days is the prominence of plastics in the environment and the fact that almost everything we do or buy has some plastic content in it, from the obvious, such as grocery bags or in clothing, especially sportswear, to the quite surprising, such as the plastic content in chewing gum. So the production of ethical, plastic-free, clothing is going to be big.
Renewable Energy The biggest single contributor to global warming is energy production, specifically oil and gas extraction and refining. So the investment and delivery of renewable alternatives are only going to get bigger and bigger. Once solar, wind and tidal power are more common do we not only have a method of powering the planet that won’t run out, but that are cheaper and cleaner giving us a much better quality of life.
Medicinal Cannabis With the legalization of cannabis in many areas, the industry is just booming. Businesses are more than just back-yard growers now and are using proper equipment supplied by top professional manufacturers and distributors such as Trimleaf will mean that they are efficiently producing top of the line products consistently.
Plastic Free We touched on the plastic-free issue when talking about ethical clothing, however, the problem is much larger than just clothing, the production of plastics is a major factor in climate change, and the persistent existence of microplastics in the food chain and especially in marine life is a huge cause for concern. So companies looking to provide alternatives are in a great position to do really well. But this is a mammoth task considering the scale of the problem, but there are potential solutions, using materials such as bamboo and silicone to replace plastic in materials for kitchenware, bags, straws, packaging and so much more.
Eco-Tourism Air miles are very costly in terms of environmental damage, in fact driving 300 miles in an average car would generate about 104 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2) and if we compare that to flying we are looking at a whopping 184 kilograms of CO2 per passenger, making it 54% more polluting, and that’s making the assumption that the car is being driven with no passengers so with car-sharing this figure gets even worse. So if we look at travel agencies specializing in low carbon holidays we can safely assume that this is going to be a more and more normal aspect to consider when traveling in the future.
