2019 Mailchimp Alternatives for Ecommerce

Currently, there are over three hundred email marketing software providers on the market. How should you know which one is the best email service for the business you own?

It’s normal that you have started with MailChimp. Everyone knows MailChimp. This tool is easy-to-use and has plenty of useful features. It has been a safe start.

But now let’s look for great MailChimp alternatives. On this list, you will find five tools with reasons why they can address your ecommerce business needs even better than MailChimp.

#1 Omnisend

Omnisend is a strong and well-equipped marketing automation platform. Actually, nowadays it’s quite a sophisticated tool with its omnichannel approach.

On this platform, you can find tools that allow you to execute an integral and smooth user experience for your customers. Starting from newsletter campaigns, ending with automated and seamless communication via email, SMS, social media, Facebook messenger, etc.

As the trump card of this platform, I see an API and deep integration with ecommerce platforms. Due to that, the platform can provide merchants with comprehensive sales reports, in-store email builder, advanced email capture studio, etc.

Plus, unlike other comprehensive tools, Omnisend’s interface seems very intuitive and user-friendly.

All in all, Omnisend has more features working out of the box than MailChimp. I would say, it stands with Klaviyo on the same page but is more affordable to merchants.

#2 Mailerlite

This tool is an affordable and great solution for those who are still warming up in email marketing.

This tool offers beautiful newsletter templates, drag-and-drop email editor, click maps, A/B testing, the wide range of signup forms, etc. Mailerlite has an intuitive and user-friendly design.

However, this tool doesn’t have in-depth integration with ecommerce platforms, so you won’t be able to monitor sales reports from your email campaigns like on Omnisend platform. Also, email automation looks quite basic in comparison to other platforms on this list.

With all that said, Mailerlite software is an option for ecommerce beginners.

#3 SendinBlue

SendinBlue solution also has a great collection of email templates. Their emails look fresh and professional.

From my point of view, a huge advantage of this platform is that SendinBlue allows you to use SMS in your email workflows. This is a step to the omnichannel marketing approach, which is vital for forward-looking business strategy. This feature is great, you should definitely add this to your marketing toolkit if you can.

Also, SendinBlue provides several different workflows to encourage entrepreneurs to start sending automated messages and segment their audience.

However, I miss some sophisticated elements that Omnisend, Klaviyo or GetResponse offer. And I find their pricing a bit tricky.

Unlike most other email software, SendinBlue’s pricing is based on the number of emails sent, not on subscriber count. But it’s hard to predict the number of automated emails.  So one day the expenses can surprise you, and not in a good way.

#4 Klaviyo

Klaviyo is a very good alternative to Mailchimp.

In fact, this platform is one of the most comprehensive email services in the market. They have great marketing automation functionality, customer segmentation, a plethora of opt-in forms, etc.

The only thing that's strange about this advanced tool is a lack of support. This platform helps merchants to make money and is a way more expensive than MailChimp or other alternatives. For that high price, the customer support is something that should be improved on Klaviyo.

With all that said, I find Klaviyo a great email marketing tool for an ecommerce business that has already rolled out.

#5 GetResponse

GetResponse is the most sophisticated tool on this list. Here you will find all the common email marketing features, plus marketing automation, CRM features, a toolkit for webinars, landing page studio, etc. So, in the long run, you won’t lack the functionality.

Moreover, GetResponse claims itself as the simplest email marketing tool to use. So it won’t take you a lot of time to learn about the system itself.

Speaking of the price range, it’s very similar to Mailchimp’s pricing. Plus, GetResponse offers a free 30 days trial. Unlike other platforms, this tool offers a trial period that’s twice as long, so potential customers have more time to explore it before starting to pay.

______

Although MailChimp is a leader in the market, it still isn’t perfect for all ecommerce needs. The good news that there are a lot of alternatives.

Take your time, ask email providers for a live demo or use a free trial to test platforms thoroughly. I’m sure you will find one that perfectly matches your skills, goals, and finances.
