Protus MyFax - Faxing Simplifed, Anytime, Anywhere

How One Disaster Survivor Managed to Stay Connected

When Percy Marchand decided to re-open his New Orleans-based print and copy center, Marchand Ink, he knew he would face many challenges in the Post-Katrina city. One of the most difficult he would face was the lack of landline phone service in the majority of New Orleans.

Percy Marchand, Pilot Grant WinnerDisaster Help Was Right on the Laptop
Enter MyFax.com. Marchand found a way to easily send and receive faxes, when thousands of other businesses throughout the New Orleans area were forced to drive to the next city to fax. Armed with a wireless broadband card for his laptop and a scanner, Marchand discovered a small pot of gold with the faxing services offered by MyFax.com. Says Percy: "MyFax allowed me to be the only business for miles with the capacity to send and receive faxes as phone service was not available in the area until the past few weeks." Marchand's clients, who are constantly faxing receipts and other correspondences to insurance companies, FEMA, and the like, were likewise happy to learn that the service is now available in the area.

It's Not Just for Emergencies
Although phone service is now restored and the company has three landlines, Marchand Ink still utilizes MyFax, particularly to receive faxes and send out long distance faxes. Receiving the faxes by email makes it convenient to not only store and retrieve faxes, but also allows him to avoid printing out all the spam and other unsolicited faxes that once would tie up his fax line. Marchand is able to make a substantial profit as the fees for using the MyFax services are extremely affordable and they eliminate the extra expense of having a dedicated fax line and long distance charges.

Saving Time as Well as Money
Another thing he appreciates his ability to send out single faxes to multiple recipients in an effective and efficient manner. Instead of tying up his phone line for hours and incurring long distance charges, Marchand only has to upload the document and enter the fax numbers of the recipients. MyFax.com takes care of the rest. When we asked him how he'd learned about MyFax he said, "I actually heard about internet faxing from advertisements for efax.com.  I explored it, but then saw MyFax on Idea Cafe, explored it, and found it to be the better deal - financially and operationally."

Editor's Note: Percy is the most recent winner of IdeaCafe's $1000 Grant - read about why he was chosen.
