What does your business do?

My partner Bryce Fischer and I started raising chickens as a hobby with a few steers and have doubled our inventory. This started Misfits Homegrown; a family owned business located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin established in May of 2018. I am a single mother of 3 children, 2 are in the agricultural industry. Two of Bryce’s children also help at our facility. We raise cattle offering customers a quality product that is free ranged and GMO free. We raise calves to 8 months old and care for them on a daily basis by using proper protocols. We also have a chicken and egg production facility. We need to update our current facility, purchase new equipment including a skid loader and dump truck, and property for our herd. I have been a herdsman for 14 years and love cattle. Bryce has been in agriculture for a long time and for the last 15 years has been an Al Technician. We have met many amazing people in our line of work and are looking toward the future.

How would you use the grant money?

We would use the funding for equipment and upgrades $1,000.

What would the grant enable you to do that you can't now?

We would be able to update the facility which would allow us to better service our customers. With the upgrades we will be able to produce healthy livestock that are free range and hormone free

If Idea Cafe's Grant helps your biz reach greater success, how will you "pay it forward" to help others in some way?

We are lifelong residents of Wisconsin and want to be able to give back to the community that has supported us for the last 15 years. We will be active participants in local charities and support programs for seniors, youth, veterans, the disabled and low income households. We will hire from underserved populations in our area.
