The advent of new wireless e-mail devices means businesses no longer have to rely on cell phones for wireless communication -- the Motorola Talkabout T900 Personal Interactive Communicator is one of the latest wireless alternatives. The Talkabout T900 is essentially a pager that can send and receive e-mail -- so it rings or vibrates when you get new messages. It is just slightly larger than a conventional pager and makes a nice accessory -- choose from four bright, clear plastic colors (aqua ice, mystic blue, raspberry ice and black opaque) to match your wardrobe, purse, car or mood. Flip the lid to read messages on your screen or type notes on the compact keyboard. Two service plans are available and monthly billing is sent to your home or business. The $20 plan lets you send and receive up to 40,000 characters in a month, the $30 plan lets you send and receive up to 200,000 (100,000 weekday plus 100,000 weekend). You can save characters by using e-mail shorthand, like l8 (late), c u soon (see you soon) and any others you make up -- just make sure your message recipient knows how to decode your meaning! It comes already activated so flip it open, hit any key and in about four seconds, you're powered up and ready to go. You're assigned a pager phone number when you purchase the T900, and that phone number becomes the T900's e-mail address: 5551234@nameofservice.com.
