Our business is low-cost website review to improve customer usability. Our clients are generally small businesses that have websites but don't get the desired results/orders/signups etc,. We review 10 key pages/products/forms in the site and give usability and functional reporting back on each of the pages.

We've done this as part of other businesses and informally for a long time, but we're new at doing this as a stand alone business. And the first thing that everybody wants to see are testimonials. We have a few, but really need more.

I think the best way for us to get real high-quality testimonials is to give the service to maybe 10 or 20 people in exchange for their online testimonial. Is that the best way to establish credibility for this new business?

no...you can start a blogger campaign. For a couple of my clients ive gotten them many professionally written articles amplifying their credibility dramatically. The articles have been submitted and published in many magazines in all kinds of industries. Submit these articles to all of your social media sites...which i do for my clients as well with their social media campaigns creating hundreds of thousands of seo backlinks. There's your credibility. You just need informative content. 2-3 clip videos are tremendously helpful too. Visit my site http://coolmanmarketing.com/services.html . Super budget friendly too. Hope that'll help

Try it. If it works, keep it up. If it doesn't try something else. That is how things are done in business.

And, even if you don't want to or can't give away your service for testimonials - then just ask people for them - even ask current clients - many people will be willing to do this for nothing in return.
