171, Food delivery etc.

We are starting a delivery service in our town. Basically it will be delivering from restaurants to motels. We live in a small town with about 10-12 restaurants and 6 motels along I-95, and none of the restaurants deliver....not even pizza hut. I'm thinking of offering an errand service sortta to the motel guests also. (pick up something from the parts store if their car is broke, pick up drinks or snacks from the C-store whatever) Just no alcohol or tobacco.

Anyway, delivering the food, can anyone think of any special permits or other liabilities I need to think about? (health dept, anything like that) It will by mostly my wife and occasionally myself doing the driving and delivering.. no employees yet. We will shortly be adding 2 12volt coolers into our jeep.. one to heat food, and one to warm it...

Also I'm thinking of charging 5.00 for the first stop, and 2.00 for each additional stop. (in case people in the room want stuff from 2 different places) All of the restaurants are within a mile or so of the motels.
I am putting my cell phone number on the brochures. That way they are calling the driver directly.. Rather than someone having to be here to answer the phone and call.

anything I'm missing? Any advice?

Thanks Ron

I would definately talk to the motels/hotels about having your contact card waiting in the rooms for guests. A lot of times there are a list of local business phone numbers near the phone. A simple brochure or folded card for marketing would boost those clients. Thanks for the help w/ my errand service question, also. Good luck!

thanks.. I know it wouldn't be a problem in the lobby...haven't asked about in the rooms. My wife actually works at one of the motels full time... The guy that owns that one owns 2 others in town, so he'd be the one to see.... she's just to shy to do it..

Thanks though...I'll let ya know how it goes.
