21, Copyright Question
Posted by AuntieEm, Fri Feb-23-07 10:17 AM
I make small magnets and use different designs for them. I was wondering if it's leagal to use, for instance, pictures of the Beatles, or things of that nature to put on my magets. Also what about using small pictures i find in magazines that would not be obvious where it came from. (like a tiny flower from a page)would that be OK?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but are you crazy??

You cannot use ANY copywrited image without permission or at the very least paying a fee.

Any picture printed in any publication is either owned by the publication or used with permission. YOU cannot use those images for profit.

I really hate telling people they can't do something. You've got one heck of a business. You might try doing custom work for businesses.

Good Luck!

Lisa :)

Copyrights are a tricky situation. Your best bet is to take your own photo's or go to a photo archive that you can purchase the photo or image and make it yours. There are tons of image data bases out there, take advantage!

If you choose to photograph/create your own images then apply them to your magnets, you should have those images copyrighted to keep your ideas safe. Once you get to that point check out the following link:
