There is a difference between successful companies and failing companies. Successful companies surround themselves with talent that applies to their business, pay for the talent, and farm out the rest. They understand farming out non-core functions are not a cost, but an investment.

I am a software developer. I don't do sales. I can do it in a pinch, and have been successful, but I don't like it. I also have an intense for 1 technical support. I have a partner who does the sales and marketing. We just hired someone for level 1 support. Believe me when I say the money I am paying someone else to do what I dislike is money well spent.
