I have a booklet that I am thinking about marketing. I would like to wire bind (not coil)so that the cover can be folded back without bending. GBC binding is cheap, but you can't fold the cover back. I also really don't want to market it with GBC binding because is does not look very professional.I found a wire binding machine in the Paper Direct catalog, but it was $400. As expensive as everything else is in the Paper Direct catalog, I figured I could find it cheaper somewhere else. Problem is, I can't find a "somewhere else". Can anyone help me?

Hi RaDonna,Why don't you consider having someone else bind these books for you? Unless you already own a print shop or related business, producing these books yourself seems like a lot of trouble and expense to go to. There are plenty of "on-demand" type printers out there that may be able to produce the entire book more efficiently. Also, I'm not sure why GBC wouldn't work. If you get the right size "comb" (they make different colors and size/sheet capacities) the cover should fold back fine, and the books look nice. If you squeeze too many sheets on too small a comb the book tends to not open and close well, and does look unprofessional. You can even get some types of paper pre-punched for GBC, saving a lot of time. Something to consider.
