I need some ideas for tassles for my bookmarks? I have been to the local craft store and to the local fabric shop but I am having no luck in finding small tassles that I can use for my bookmarks. I have an order for a wedding and the lady wants yellow tassles for her bookmark order but I cannot find small tassles anywhere. If any of you have any ideas to help me out on this please let me know. At this point I used small yellow ribbon as a tassle and sent her a sample. The yellow ribbon looks nice so I am hoping she will be happy with that but I have got to find a place to get real tassles. This just proves that I truely am Mr. Know-It-All Businessman. It also proves that I save way too much stuff. When I read your post it reminded me that I was looking for tassels a few years ago for some menues I was making for a client. The miracle is that I knew where I put the information. Anyway... If you can't find them ready made, you could go to a craft store or WalMart and pick up some pearle cotton or embroidery floss. Wrap it around a small piece of cardboard about a bazillion times, tie off and viola! (In other words, check out the books while you are at the store, they will have a picture showing you how to do it). The great part about this method is that there are over 300 colors available. I am not sure what a wholesale price on tassels would be, so you're probably right. Here is what I figured: You could make one or two tassels the size I see on most bookmarks from one skein of floss which is anywhere from 6/$1 on sale to a regular price of .33-.59. I actually thought that the labor would be a bigger concern than the price of the floss. The tassels I see in the cloth stores are WAY expensive. Of course the markup on tassels is probably very high. If you can get them pre-made for .05 to .50 a piece, making your own doesn't make any sense. I have just never seen any cheaper than .99 for even the smallest ones.

I have checked into some of the options here so far and nothing has worked yet. I still need help locating a wholesale dealer of tassles. The company in Chicago that I called apparently does not exist any more. And to make the tassles myself it would cost to much the customers would not want to pay what I have to charge for tassles on the bookmarks. Thanks Diane Waltman http://www.creativebookmarks.com
