No, you do not need a formal education. Just a love for design and graphics. You do have to be business savy to a certain degree. I personally have the drive and determination but unfortunately, do not have the time. Plus, you do need some financial backing as well. e-mail me if you have any q's.

What do you mean you have to have a love for designs, etc? Do you have to be a GREAT sketcher and be really good at drawing? How do you get started? For instance, if you dont have a formal education on design, then do you just draw your designs on a sketch pad? How would you be able to present your drawings and sketches to companies or manufacturers, etc?

I have a little company with European fashion for young people.

In my product portfolio are summer shoes/ trendy sandals (“abarcas” are very popular in Europe in the summer), and a hot young fashion brand from Barcelona (3 collections: ladies’, ladies’ exclusive, men’s). I believe I have some very nice products… but what about sales? I have an idea/ concept I would like to get some response to (offering a business idea to young entrepreneurs that would like to start up inexpensively):

People (young entrepreneurs) that are interested in European Fashion could buy a small collection for a small price. (And they could wear it… everyday….)

It would only take a little startup investment.

They would be able to buy clothes, shoes and bags for them selves, friends and family, but also to make a buck on selling the clothes to their schoolmates, colleagues etc. (even shops).

The collection can be made up by the reps from the homepage, and worn… easy advertising in the local environment.

The newest collections would be accessible on a homepage, and the reps would know the good quality of the produce from previous purchases.

I am originally from New York, but recently moved to London. I just started a clothing line, Mifa, my brand has good potential as it is well backed by a major organization. My family business is in textile production, and we are one of the largest manufacturers in the European market, we worked with Walmart, Macy's, Zara and also Aldi, Banana republic and Next in Europe. I have an amazing opportunity here to come up with my own brand as I have a free access to a huge production unit, only thing I need is a solid team to back me up. I have been involved in fashion industry in New York and I do have some excellent connections in the media world as well, so I think its a great idea to come up with my own brand, similar to ZARA, Banana Republic, I am targeting a yuppish kinda crowd, like Zara.

I am planning to open couple of stores soon, first one in London then in New York, I need branding and good designers now, partnership possible, salary possible as well, I just need a rock solid team, this can be a huge potential.

I am looking to recruit people from all over the world to sell clothing for me... It is mostly urban/hip hop/club clothing but it is something you can do from home... It is 30% commission and you can do it as little or as much as you want.

There is absolutely no cost to you what so ever all you do is recieve the clothing and sell them.

As long as you are able to get a client base you will do good with this...anyone would...and you can make as much money as you want as long as you are able to sell the merchandise...It is a simple job.. Nothing to head boggling....

And fun on top of that... Especially for people who are very sociable... The clothing are generally from New york city so it's the latest fashions that you would be receiving to sell - with no cost to you.

I do know of a clothing designer that got a $5,000 grant to start his clothing line of African American urban designs. However you do have to be a minority to apply for this award. He had to submit a business plan and then present it to a board. There are also a number of entrepreneurial grant programs out there that you should investigate further.

If you do not want to go this route you can use what resources you have at hand now - the most important of which is yourself. If you're talking about owning an actual store there are a lot of things that you are going to have to take into consideration and one of the most important of these is overhead meaning rent, utilities and salaries for your employees. Since you have already said that you have experience in this kind of business then you should be well acquainted with how the "buying of the clothing" is already done and if you are talking about you not having the money to purchase the clothing its going to be much harder for you.
