I'm a former notary because it was required when I worked as a freelance court reporter.

The only money I ever made from someone signing something in front of me was $2 when someone I knew was frantic to find a notary.

That was it.

Are there home study courses out there trying to convince people they can actually make a living as a notary? How ridiculous.

if you work as a signing agent and do mortgage closings you can make anywhere from $50-$200/per closing! it's not the same as the minimal $5/per page notarization....
Now with more closings done cross country from where lenders are, there is a big demand for mobile signing agents.

Hi can you answer a few questions for me please I would certainly appreciate it
i have did the research and did not find anything that would suggest this is a scam
I am wondering
Did you take the signing courses?

How long have you been doing this sort of work?

If you did take the course was it really helpful or could you have read the same info at the library

How did you market yourself to clients?

I live in missouri is there a great demand for signing agents ?

Do you know of anything that might help me along the way?

Any advice please

Thank you so very much

>How did you market yourself to clients? I deal mostly with title companies and individuals...most signing services don't pay enough..there's all kinds of signing services that only pay $50 and shot w/price of gas and your time it's not worth it, when you do it for yourself or title companies you can usually get $150+

There's demand wherever people are buying homes...refinancing homes, etc.

try some mobile notary, notary public, signing agent groups on yahoogroups.com
HOpe that helps,

6. "wow !"
Posted by stephanie on 12:01:43 10/07/2005
Hi Tara thank you for the response
I checked out your (SITES) wow you have a lot of service you offer
That is sort of what Iam chasing after for myself
I want a variety of opportunities (not just one road with one exit but one or maybe two roads with several side steets)
I seen your link to becoming a loan originator and wondered if I should email you from there or here and since I am used to being a schmoozer I decided to stay here hope you dont mind
Here's my question
Do you charge a fee for what your offering? If so, whats the average fee
Did you learn about mortgage loan processing through previous work experience
I am wondering if you were at one point in real estate or banking?
I am assuming from looking at your sites
you have a lot of experience in different fields of work?
Thank you for your time I look forward to hearing from you again
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie, NO there are NO FEES to be an originator..you get paid 40% of the net commission and do not pay for anything!
I offer free training and free web page... and yes I do a lot, it's just part of my nature!

8. "Yes... you can."
Posted by Sher on 06:29:54 10/20/2005
As I've said on another similar post here, you can make money as a notary signing agent in many states as my daughter does just that.

Before becoming an agent herself, she worked for a company that hired agents. She says the best money she has spent was with http://signingagent.com. (I think it was about eighty bucks.)

She wrote an article for the women who visit my site that you may find helpful. If you want to read it, you can find it at:
http://www.momandhermoney.com/become-notary-signing-agent.html

I think it's like anything else. The harder you work at it and the smarter you work at it, the better you'll do.

Good luck.

Sher
