Answer from our Guest Expert Lillyvette MontalvoPAGE 3Practice with Friends and FamilyOnce you feel comfortable looking into the Mirror, and you can literally see your sincerity in delivering your message, find a willing family member or friend and practice delivering your message on them. Tell them to ask you questions along the way, but not to prepare you for these questions. This way, you can test your skills and your ability to clarify your message. This will bring you much closer to that dial pad and you can start generating calls. The Beauty of Some PhonesHave you thought about what type of phone to use in your business? The phones that clip onto your belt or waist band are really comfortable and convenient. Likewise, a phone headset is a nice way to warm up those cold calls you're making. Why? Because you can use your hands - as if you were talking in front of someone - and you'll come across more naturally. If you have a phone that clips to your waist, you can walk around and not feel confined to a desk or a chair, thus reducing some of the rigidity this may cause when delivering your sales pitch. These are a few practical - and very inexpensive - strategies to sharpen up your phone skills and kick that phone fear. As you said, you'll most likely be nervous for the first few calls, but that will last only as long as it takes for you to establish your new comfort zone. Once you've established this new comfort zone, you'll be able to feel less nervous and be much more confident in your delivery skills. Make it a habit to prepare! It takes 21 days to break a habit or to establish a new habit. The more you make it a habit to practice for success, the closer you'll actually come to achieving it! I wish you the best of success in your business! Lillyvette
