Answer from our Guest Expert Lillyvette Montalvo PAGE 2 Make Your Office Your Special Place Surround yourself (in your home office) with items that make you proud of what you do and who you are. If you love what you do, it doesn't really matter if you work from home or not. That office room should make you feel like top dog in your field or industry. Hang up awards, newspaper articles on you or you biz, and any professional or educational certificates. If you have a family (including beloved pets) who are an important part of your life, have mementos of them in your office. (We're particularly partial to children's drawings!) Don't make your office seem dry or make you seem like you're too mechanical. Personalize it with your passions, values, goals and inspirations. Invite Others Over to Your Table If you know of others in your field who also work out of the home, make a connection and communicate with them on a regular basis. This way, you have other folks in your "office building" who you can talk to and bounce brilliant ideas off of. If you know of others who work in an real office building in your industry, make a connection with them as well. You can contact them to stay updated on several fronts. Such as, are there any new training workshops they're receiving? Do they have contracts where they might need an extra hand (more work opps for you)? Stay in touch with these cohorts via e-mail or even web cam, if possible! It's a way to stay fresh both professionally and socially.
