Equipment needed: At least one camcorder, multimedia computer system and related software, scanner, VCRs, editing equipment, digital switcher, computer, modem, business phone, fax, answering machine or service. You can start out renting necessary equipment, as well as using the services of video reproduction houses.
WHAT YOU DO
With little more than a home video camera and an idea, you can produce your own educational and training tapes for schools and businesses. Video production services involve scriptwriting, taping and editing. Multimedia production services involve the video production along with music, graphics, computer technology, etc., to produce presentations for seminars, business meetings, conventions, talks, and training programs.
Just about any how-to topic makes for a good video. Topics for business videos could include safety tips, basic step-by-step training (could be a series), descriptions of new products, or business management techniques. Educational videos could be made in conjunction with textbooks or school classes or for sports instruction or training. Videos for consumers could cover endless how-to topics, such as gardening, sports, crafts, and art instructions.
